Happy Hour

Happy Hours in Vegas are similar to Happy Hours in other cities. There are some that stand out because of very good or unique food and/or drink. These are the best as far as party atmosphere, food and or drink.

Bar Louie is one of several lounges at the open air mall, Town Square, which is quite south on the strip. Although not convenient to visitors staying on the strip or downtown, the nachos are good and it has both food and drink specials from 3-7 pm Monday to Friday and Tuesdays from 5 pm until closing.

Blue Martini has a daily happy hour from 4-8 pm with both drink and food specials. This often has one of the liveliest crowds along with Kona Grill. Of the several Town Square locations with a good happy hour, this is possibly the best.

Coyote Ugly is located in New York New York with half price drinks from 6-8 pm on Sundays through Thursdays. The main draw are the dancers on top of the bar before a crowd that is surprisingly not as Country and Western as you might think. It is loud and fun and is much more convenient for most Vegas visitors. Although it is not the best happy hour in Vegas, you can have fun here even if the girls getting free shots for dancing are not always the best looking.

Firefly is the best tapas bar in Vegas with a strong assortment of little dishes. They only have drink specials unless you also sit at the bar for a complimentary amuse bouche. The hours are short too from 3-6 pm Mondays to Thursdays and 3-5 pm on Fridays but the sangria is quite good and there are plenty of noshing possibilities. It is located off the strip not far from the Hard Rock.

Freakin’ Frog is more a locals bar that attracts the beer fans who love the huge variety as well as some good beers on tap. The daily happy hour runs from 3-7 pm and does not include all of the beers but they have hundreds to choose from and at 2 for 1, it is a good deal. Food is only average here but if you are hungry they are near an In-N-Out.

Gordon Biersch has good garlic fries and their own microbrews. The Martzen is one of their better offerings. Food and drinks are on special from 4-6:30 Mondays to Fridays with another happy hour from 10 pm to closing also Mondays through Fridays. If it were not for Kona Grill, it would easily be the top choice for the Summerlin Boca Park shopping mall located well off strip.

Kona Grill is located in the Boca Park mall not far from the Suncoast and Rampart casinos. They have specials on food and drinks and a lively clientele. Food and drink specials are fairly good with a shrimp pizza only $4 and margaritas at $3. Happy hour runs from 4-7 pm and again from 10 to midnight from Mondays to Fridays. We give a slight nod to Kona versus Gordon although both are very good.

McCormick and Schmick’s has 2 happy hours with one starting at 3:30 to 6:30 and another from 9:30 to 11 pm on Mondays to Fridays. It is only for food but the food is unusually strong here. If you buy 2 drinks you can order food that ranges from $1.95 to $4.95 and is more than worth the reduced price. If you had more choice in beers or at least some discount on drinks, it would be one of the very best happy hours in Las Vegas. As it is, it is still pretty good.

Red Square is the great Vodka bar with the headless Lenin standing guard outside. They have 2 happy hours that range form 3-6 pm and again from 11 pm to closing daily. What makes them special, aside from the ice bar and Vodka vault is a 2 drink, free caviar special. This is something you don’t see in most happy hours and this unique experience makes it a top choice in Vegas happy hours.

Sedona is a locals bar with both a drinks and food happy hour with an emphasis on pretty good food. Their tuna chips and fish tacos are popular items on a format that is more restaurant than bar. Unfortunately their happy hour only runs on Fridays from 4-7 pm but if you are in the area at that time, you won’t be disappointed.

Triple 777 inside the Main Street Station casino downtown is a very good microbrewery and restaurant. Their happy hour runs from 3-6 pm Mondays to Fridays unless Monday Night Football is running. Great microbrews go for $2 and food specials are $4.25. This is easily the best happy hour in downtown Las Vegas.

Yard House is another Town Square bar with an enormous selection of beers. If you are south of the strip this is a very worthy competitor to Freakin’ Frog. Its happy hour is only for drinks and runs 3-6 pm Monday to Friday with another happy hour from Sundays to Wednesdays from 11 pm to closing.
